Boatman Grove, riparian planting.
Volunteer
Volunteers are the backbone of our education and restoration efforts. Our education program is always looking for people to spend a day teaching Oregon's youth.
Help teach Oregon’s youth about salmon and watersheds with Oregon Trout’s Salmon Watch™ program, an award-winning education program that centers on streamside field trips to view spawning Chinook salmon.
Adult volunteers will attend a free half-day training workshop in August or September to learn more about water quality, aquatic insects, riparian zones, and working with kids. Then, in the fall, they’ll become “o-fish-ial” volunteer instructors, giving them the chance to share their knowledge with middle and high school students on a weekday field trip.
Field trips usually begin around 9 a.m. and conclude between 1 and 2 p.m. Travel time to field trip sites averages 1¼ hours.
Field Season begins Mid-September and runs through Mid-November.
Trained volunteers are expected to sign up for at least one field trip.
Check out the Get Involved Calendar page for a listing of training dates or contact Traci Price at 503-222-9091 ext. 25 for more information.
If you or your group would prefer to spend a Saturday planting trees, building fences, or working on in-stream restoration projects contact Richard Walsh.
