Sandy River
In cooperation with our partners we are launching a collaborative effort that will restore flow and habitat complexity to 8-10 side channels on private and public land within the Sandy River Basin. The Salmon River Side Channel Restoration Project will engage local landowners in restoration actions on their property, and will involve local students in monitoring and tree planting activities. Initial response from landowners and federal land managers has been favorable, and through Oregon Trout’s Healthy Waters Institute, three local teachers have expressed interest in having their classrooms participate. Side channel work began in 2007 with project completion dates projected for winter of 2009.
